We continue to seek adult volunteers to help build a covered
spectator area at the Yard's Creek Scout Reservation rifle range. This structure will be attached to the
existing rifle range and will provide a sheltered area for family members,
fellow Scouts, and guests who are observing the shooting sessions.
Construction skills ranging from basic labor to skilled
craftsmen are needed. Come to work,
learn, and have fun, all while creating a great facility for our Scouts, family
members, adult Scouters, and guests.
DATE: The next work dates are July 9th and 10th. All work weekends will start at 9:00 A.M.
and end at 5:00 P.M.
WORK PLANNED
FOR July 9th and 10th: Adult volunteers will prepare holes for
concrete footings and a form for a concrete pad for a 60'
x 14' spectator area under the leadership of
professional builders. Materials will be
on site, but volunteer tools are still needed.
These are: shale bars, picks,
shovels, steel rakes, post hole
diggers and wheelbarrows. Please mark your equipment for ease in
identification.
Volunteers are requested to bring their own lunches and
beverages.
FUTURE WORK
PLANS: The second weekend
of each month will be set for constructing the post and beam system, trusses,
sheathing, fascia, and
roofing. These are:
August 13-14; September
10-11; October 8-9; November 12-13.
REGISTRATION: Please register in advance for all
weekends and to be notified of plans for future weekends by e-mailing Mike
Darcy at: DarcyMJD@Gmail.com. Your registration will be confirmed, and
you will be entered on an e-mail list so you may be contacted with further
details.
Your registration is not a commitment to work every planned
weekend. But it does indicate that your
Troop is interested in the project and may join specific work weekends if your
schedule permits.
QUESTIONS: Any inquiries or clarifications on the
work being planned should be directed to
Ken Fischer at:
908 - 399 - 9806 or Kfischman@comcast.net.
