Troop 112 History
Mt. Pleasant Boy Scout Troop 112 was officially charted in 1958 through the Alexandria First Presbyterian Church of Mt. Pleasant (as it is today). Our first Scoutmaster was Mr. Rockafellow with eight original youth members. The address of the troop has frequently changed over the five decades of service as the local post offices were moved, consolidated, or closed. The troop’s address has been Mt. Pleasant, Milford, Pittstown, and also known simply as the “Alexandria Township Troop 112”.
Troop 112 celebrated its’ 55th anniversary in 2013. We are a volunteer service organization with Boy Scouts of America trained adult leaders, with 20 plus active scouts, and over 55 Eagle Scouts through the program.
Today’s active troop members are still from all corners of Alexandria Township and still enjoy the rural countryside and camping from Brunner’s pond, up and down the Delaware River, and north to the Appalachian mountains.
To provide our boys and adults with a quality scouting program as a chartered member of the Boy Scouts of America.
WHAT WE DO:
We camp. We hike. We fish. We seek adventure. We stress safety. We serve our community, our nation and our world. We build self-reliance skills. We work as a team. We are stewards of the environment. We strive for diversity. We live the scout law. We live the scout oath.
HOW WE DO IT:
Through allowing the scouts to build and maintain their scouting life paths as individuals and together as a troop. We stress scouting’s “boy-led” concept whenever possible. Our adult leadership participation is pro-active in supplying the necessary support and resources for the scouts to attain their goals. The troop has a formal adult staffed committee and fully staffed operational unit including Scoutmaster, Assistant Scoutmasters, Junior Assistant Scoutmasters and Scoutmaster Emeritus.
